Obituary of Doris J. Shaia

Doris J. Shaia, 81 of Brooklyn, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 in Hartford at Hartford Hospital. Wife of the late William Shaia, he died in 2006. Born on May 30, 1934 in Manchester, CT, daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Biski) Furphy. Doris was a Communicant of Our Lady of LaSalette Church in Brooklyn. She was a beloved wife, mother of seven, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all that loved her. She leaves her children, Michael Shaia (Linda), Thomas Shaia, William Shaia, Bernadette Shaia, Susan Rogers (David), Pamela Bessette, siblings, James Furphy, Mary Salvatore, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Shaia, died in 2012 and a sister Elizabeth Preston. Funeral will be Friday, August 14, 2015 at 9:00 AM from Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of LaSalette Church, 25 Providence Road, Brooklyn, burial to follow in South Cemetery, Brooklyn.
